We believe Barioni High Performance Shafts are the least cue ball deflecting (Squirt), most accurate shafts in the world. We have robot tested over 300 competitors shafts including the top Low Deflecting Brands and the results were not even close. Our shafts beat the best competitor shaft by over an inch less Squirt or Deflection. Most of the test were recorded and are on YouTube or this Website. A lot of videos have not been uploaded yet but are coming soon. Any one is welcome to come to our facility and see the testing and results in person as many have already done so.

We sell Three grades of shafts. Grade A++, Grade A+, and Grade A. All Three grades of shafts are made the same way over a three-year period and will play and perform the same way with the exception that the Grade A++ and Grade A+ will have the most radial consistency. This is because the grain is straighter. The straighter grain is way less likely to warp. They will all have the same hit, accuracy, and feel, taper, tip, and ferrule. The grade given to each piece of shaft wood is like grading Diamonds in jewelry. It is based on the quality of the wood. Such qualities as the amount of growth rings, straightness of grain, clarity, sugar marks and stains. All our shafts are robotic tested for the hit, performance, and deflection before they leave our factory.

Why have a shaft tuned?

There are a few reasons to have a shaft tuned. One reason is if you want two shafts to have the same amount of deflection. Or maybe you want a shaft to have a certain amount of deflection to cancel out through which is when the cue ball loaded with spin contacts the object ball and throughs the objsct ball off course. Some players want a few shafts with different amounts of deflection so they can choose which shaft to use to compensate for different playing conditions. Example: you are playing in humid conditions and the balls are sticking causing more through. You need more deflection to compensate for this. Or you can guess on every shot how much to adjust your aim. It is easier to pick a shaft for your playing conditions and not have to change your aim or the way you play. Some balls are polished and cleaned often which allows better playing conditions. Then there is league play in bars where the balls are never cleaned or polished and they through like crazy and drag when you cut a ball.

Shaft Tuning is a lengthy and time consuming process which not only tunes the shaft to the butt of the cue but makes each piece of shaft wood play its best with the least amount of squirt or deflection if that is the reason your tuning it for. This is a necessary procedure since no two pieces of shaft wood are the same. This is due to the amount of growth rings, density, weight, length, stiffness or rigidity, tip diameter, and taper. Shaft Tuning is a process of testing the shaft in the robot. The Robot is really like a Dyno that measures the Squirt or Deflection and Performance of a cue. The first initial test is to establish a base line and see how the cue is performing. Then the shaft gets tested in a Spine Tester or Shaft Stiffness/Flexibility Tester to determine the flexibility of the shaft and the Radial Consistency. Then based on the results we have to cut off the new tip and ferrule and make the necessary adjustments and then install a new tip and ferrule and re-test the cue again. We do this multiple times until we squeeze out all the deflection/squirt and preserve as much power in the shaft as possible. We waste a lot of new tips and ferrules in the process and consume a lot of time. This is why it cost so much. It is worth it in the end because you will have the least squirting/cue ball deflecting most accurate playing shaft in the world.
